Happy Girl

Once again I cannot believe how fast time has flown. Lanie is almost 2 months old already, and I don't know where the time has gone...

Lanie is still a very happy, content baby. She smiles most of the time she is awake, unless she is hungry or hot! She knows our voices well and will follow us alertly with her eyes and quiet down when she hears our voices.

Lanie's favorite toy is one that her great-grandma McCauley gave me in college. It is a little musical Pooh attached to his red balloon. She loves to watch and listen to him. I think it is my grandma's way of smiling down on Lanie.

Dr. Appt.

Lanie had her first round of shots on Tuesday. She seemed to recover quickly, but I think it took David and I a bit longer. It was awful seeing her go through that! She is now up to 11 lbs and 14 oz, and she is 23 inches long. I knew she was growing like crazy, but I had no idea she was getting that big...
I cannot explian how terrific the time has been with Lanie. She is developing quite a personality. She is a happy, content baby who loves to cuddle and be held. She is also developing much more independence. She can sit and entertain herself for long periods of time and seems to be interested in the small world around her. She is now very aware of her surroundings and follows David and I with her eyes. She has a beautiful smile that I like to think she saves for us, but really she is willing to share it with anyone. She has definately changed our world for the better.

One Month

I cannot believe our Lanie is going to be one month old tomorrow. I never thought she could change so much in such a short time. She is getting taller, larger, and stronger everyday. She has also grown the most beautiful, longest eyelashes ever, thanks to her daddy's genes.
However these physical changes are nothing compared to how Lanie's personality has grown. She has always seemed to know our voices, but now she is fascinated by our faces. She will sit alertly and stare at us for what seems like hours, but is really only moments. She is also quite fascinated by her "fishie" mobile above her swing. Putting her in her swing is a surefire way for me to get a few moments to eat, shower, or perhaps clean up a little. It only lasts 10-15 minutes, but its amazing how much I can now get done in that time! Lanie is a happy baby who smiles often, but not really in response to anything. I cannot wait for the first time she actually smiles back at us. Lanie's favorite time of the day is bath time. She absolutely loves it! She stretches and turns trying to get every little bit of her body in the water. I think she would stay in there all day if I let her.
I'm sure the next month will bring as many changes as this month. This is both an exciting and scary thought. I can't wait to see every new thing she does, but I do not want the time to go by too fast...

Doing Great!

Lanie's had a very busy week, starting last weekend with her first birthday party. Her cousin Brooklin turned 5, and Lanie was as content as could be at the party. On Monday she finally lost her umbilical cord, which was exciting, but for some reason also a little sad...
Uncle Rich came to visit this week. He was able to spend several days visiting and spending time with Lanie. While he was here, Lanie went to grannie and papa's for the first time for dinner. She seems to like white noise, because anytime there are alot of people around she falls right to sleep and stays that way until we leave.
Lanie ended her week with a barbeque at the Bison Range. This was her second visit to the Bison Range (The first with her mom and grandmas)and once again she slept almost the entire time.

Our Beautiful Daughter

The last 12 days have been absolutely incredible. I hardly know where to begin other than to say David and I have the most amazing little girl ever. I'm sure all new parents say that, but it's true.
It all started last Monday when we went in to be induced. Things didn't go as well as planned and after almost 24 hours of trying we decided on a cesarean. The surgery was unbelievably quick and in no time our little Elaina was born. We had a short stay in the hospital to make sure everything was going well and were able to come home last Friday.
Since then things have been a whirlwind of feedings, diaper changes, and utter amazement. I look at Lanie everyday and cannot believe she is really ours. She is the most beautiful thing I have ever seen. Her dad is also absolutely in love with her. He can't take his eyes of her and can barely leave her to go to work every day. We feel like the luckiest people alive and cannot wait for all of you to meet Elaina.

Baby Imminent!

Hey guys-- Sara asked me to post the news as their computer is down. She is off from work now, and at home getting ready for a new baby. They went to the doctor Monday and heard good news! The baby looks good and everything seems to be progressing normally. The due date is anywhere from the 10th to the 15th. If there is no baby by then, the doctor said he will induce labor on the 16th. Sara said she is feeling good and excited to have the baby! --Erin

Can't Wait!

I have to confess the picture I just posted is from when my dad came to visit in February. I am much bigger now!
Time really seems to have slowed down...I cannot wait for the next 4 weeks to go by! Truth be told though, I am not ready. We need to put carpet in the nursery and do the finishing touches, but I just want to see our little one.
The school had a very nice shower for me last Thursday. I'll have to post pictures of the shower so you all can see what I really look like! Everyone was very generous and we have many beautiful outfits and blankets for the baby. We also received many practical gifts, including my favorite, "the diaper genie". Now all I need to buy is a good supply diapers and we'll have what we need.
