Ahh, where to begin? I know most of you have probably stopped checking this since I haven't posted an entry in so long, but here it goes... Our little Lanie Bug is just getting over her first bad cold. She stayed home from daycare for 3 days with a high fever and a pretty intense chest cold. She is doing much better now, although her cough sounds worse as she is trying to clear everything out. Yesterday she was finally back to her old self and as onery as ever. This last month has not been one of great events, but instead a month of many small milestones. Lanie still isn't crawling, but she can get wherever she wants to go with little to no difficulty, which means mom and dad have to be much better at cleaning and vacuuming. Lanie is also starting to show a recognition of more and more words. Without a doubt, she knows the difference between mama and dada and between Pipps and Tucker. She is also starting to know words such as eyes and ears, and finally no! She is a girl after her mama's heart when it comes to reading. She follows the lead of all of the girls in my family and loves books. She has quite a collection of books and loves to have any and all of them read to her. Well this is just a short catch up, but hopefully if there are still readers out there I will get back on track and start posting messages again.
We are so excited to be going "home" for Christmas. Lanie will get to spend her first Christmas with my family, after spending her first Thanksgiving with Aunt Suzie, Uncle Rusty, and the kids. We put Lanie on formula this month and now she is growing like a weed! At her last Dr. appointment, she had only gained 7 ounces in over 2 months. We go in tomorrow and I think she's gained twice that just in the last month! She is also now chattering away. She says mama, but she doesn't quite know its me. It seems to be what she cries when she wants something, whether it be me, food, or just some attention... She isn't crawling yet, but that doesn't seem to stop her from getting to where she wants to be. Last night we hit another big moment. She was able to pick up her cornbread and get it successfully to her mouth several times in a row. Normally this was a "hit and miss" sort of event, but she finally has it down. I know this is a brief update, but I wanted to let everyone know how Lanie is doing, and wish all of you a very happy holiday season.
This little lady bug had a very busy Halloween! Friday she went to the "Spook Parade" at mom's work. Saturday she had her first costume party at her friend Emily's, and Monday Granny and Papa came over for dinner and she helped hand out candy to trick-or-treaters.
She slept through the night completely last night, 9 1/2 hours! With teething, I was beginning to think she would never give us a full night's sleep, but I guess she was just waiting for her 5 month birthday.
Lanie is 5 months old today! She is growing up so fast...Her latest tricks are "singing"with dad and making razzing noises against my arm. She is so excited by all the noises she can make and is truly discovering her voice. She loves to babble and scream in what David has dubbed her Marriah Carrey voice. We will be taking her 5 month pictures today and I will post them as soon as possible.
Lanie is doing well and changing by the moment. She can now officially roll over in both directions--front to back and back to front. She can also reach for and grab anything put in front of her. This is not always a good thing! The most exciting news is that she has her first tooth! The first one came in with little fussiness, but she has been a bit crabby the last couple of days, which tells me the next ones won't be so easy. Overall Lanie is doing wonderfully and I continue to fall more in love with her everyday.
Hello! The last few weeks have brought big changes for Lanie. I am back to work and Lanie has started with her babysitter. David is able to stay home with her until noon most days and then she is off to Sarah-Anne's until I pick her up around 3:30. Lanie seems to be adjusting to this new schedule quite well, but I am still not used to it. I was excited to get back to school, but I wish I could bring Lanie to work with me! Lanie is doing very well. She is still a happy and content baby. Her latest obsession is her hands or anything else she can get into her mouth! She will entertain herself for quite sometime by chewing on her hands and drooling down the front of herself. She also seems to be ready for food. She is very nterested in anything David and I put into our mouths and she gets excited by the smell of dinner cooking. Poor girl, little does she know her first taste of food will be rice cereal, not very exciting...
Everyday I tell myself I am going to update our site, and everyday I go to bed without doing so. There are not enough hours in the day... The last month has been wonderful. Lanie has enjoyed the company of most of my family over the last several weeks. On the 5th of July we drove to Spokane and met my dad, Anthony, and Kenneth. Lanie finally got to be held by her grandpa, who was sick when she was born, and we all visited for some time before heading back home with Kenneth. Lanie's uncle Ken was able to spend 3 full weeks with us and we enjoyed every single minute of it. We were busy the entire time. We visited Glacier, went to a baseball game, and attended a number of bar-b-ques. Kenneth has grown into a terrific young man and we hated to see him go. When we met dad to drop off Kenneth, Jennifer was able to come back with us to spend a few days. Lanie was very fascinated with her aunt who gave her tons of attention and is spoiling her already! When I said we had tons of company, I wasn't kidding. The same day Jen came home with us, Erin and Andrew also came to visit. They were only able to stay two nights, but we look forward to them returning at the end of the month. The weekend of the 7th saw even more company for Lanie's baptism. Her grandma Peggy and grandpa Randy, and her great grandma and grandpa all came to see her, as well as her uncle Ken who had only been gone a few days. We were so happy to see everyone, but only wish they could have stayed longer. Lanie's christening was a beautiful event, taking place at the Methodist Church in Charlo. Following the baptism, we all gathered with David's parents, sister Suzie and family, and the Hunts at Ninepipe's for a nice luncheon. Again we enjoyed the time, but as always it was too short and we were sorry to see everyone go; the house seems almost empty with just the three of us. Well this is a quick summary of how things have been going. I promise to write again soon detailing all of Lanie's changes and accomplishments. It seems she changes from day to day.
