5 months
Lanie is 5 months old today! She is growing up so fast...Her latest tricks are "singing"with dad and making razzing noises against my arm. She is so excited by all the noises she can make and is truly discovering her voice. She loves to babble and scream in what David has dubbed her Marriah Carrey voice. We will be taking her 5 month pictures today and I will post them as soon as possible.

New Developments
Lanie is doing well and changing by the moment. She can now officially roll over in both directions--front to back and back to front. She can also reach for and grab anything put in front of her. This is not always a good thing!
The most exciting news is that she has her first tooth! The first one came in with little fussiness, but she has been a bit crabby the last couple of days, which tells me the next ones won't be so easy.
Overall Lanie is doing wonderfully and I continue to fall more in love with her everyday.

Almost Four Months
Hello!
The last few weeks have brought big changes for Lanie. I am back to work and Lanie has started with her babysitter. David is able to stay home with her until noon most days and then she is off to Sarah-Anne's until I pick her up around 3:30. Lanie seems to be adjusting to this new schedule quite well, but I am still not used to it. I was excited to get back to school, but I wish I could bring Lanie to work with me!
Lanie is doing very well. She is still a happy and content baby. Her latest obsession is her hands or anything else she can get into her mouth! She will entertain herself for quite sometime by chewing on her hands and drooling down the front of herself. She also seems to be ready for food. She is very nterested in anything David and I put into our mouths and she gets excited by the smell of dinner cooking. Poor girl, little does she know her first taste of food will be rice cereal, not very exciting...

Lots of Company!
Everyday I tell myself I am going to update our site, and everyday I go to bed without doing so. There are not enough hours in the day...
The last month has been wonderful. Lanie has enjoyed the company of most of my family over the last several weeks. On the 5th of July we drove to Spokane and met my dad, Anthony, and Kenneth. Lanie finally got to be held by her grandpa, who was sick when she was born, and we all visited for some time before heading back home with Kenneth. Lanie's uncle Ken was able to spend 3 full weeks with us and we enjoyed every single minute of it. We were busy the entire time. We visited Glacier, went to a baseball game, and attended a number of bar-b-ques. Kenneth has grown into a terrific young man and we hated to see him go.
When we met dad to drop off Kenneth, Jennifer was able to come back with us to spend a few days. Lanie was very fascinated with her aunt who gave her tons of attention and is spoiling her already! When I said we had tons of company, I wasn't kidding. The same day Jen came home with us, Erin and Andrew also came to visit. They were only able to stay two nights, but we look forward to them returning at the end of the month.
The weekend of the 7th saw even more company for Lanie's baptism. Her grandma Peggy and grandpa Randy, and her great grandma and grandpa all came to see her, as well as her uncle Ken who had only been gone a few days. We were so happy to see everyone, but only wish they could have stayed longer. Lanie's christening was a beautiful event, taking place at the Methodist Church in Charlo. Following the baptism, we all gathered with David's parents, sister Suzie and family, and the Hunts at Ninepipe's for a nice luncheon. Again we enjoyed the time, but as always it was too short and we were sorry to see everyone go; the house seems almost empty with just the three of us.
Well this is a quick summary of how things have been going. I promise to write again soon detailing all of Lanie's changes and accomplishments. It seems she changes from day to day.

Happy Girl
Once again I cannot believe how fast time has flown. Lanie is almost 2 months old already, and I don't know where the time has gone...
Lanie is still a very happy, content baby. She smiles most of the time she is awake, unless she is hungry or hot! She knows our voices well and will follow us alertly with her eyes and quiet down when she hears our voices.
Lanie's favorite toy is one that her great-grandma McCauley gave me in college. It is a little musical Pooh attached to his red balloon. She loves to watch and listen to him. I think it is my grandma's way of smiling down on Lanie.

Dr. Appt.
Lanie had her first round of shots on Tuesday. She seemed to recover quickly, but I think it took David and I a bit longer. It was awful seeing her go through that! She is now up to 11 lbs and 14 oz, and she is 23 inches long. I knew she was growing like crazy, but I had no idea she was getting that big...
I cannot explian how terrific the time has been with Lanie. She is developing quite a personality. She is a happy, content baby who loves to cuddle and be held. She is also developing much more independence. She can sit and entertain herself for long periods of time and seems to be interested in the small world around her. She is now very aware of her surroundings and follows David and I with her eyes. She has a beautiful smile that I like to think she saves for us, but really she is willing to share it with anyone. She has definately changed our world for the better.

One Month
I cannot believe our Lanie is going to be one month old tomorrow. I never thought she could change so much in such a short time. She is getting taller, larger, and stronger everyday. She has also grown the most beautiful, longest eyelashes ever, thanks to her daddy's genes.
However these physical changes are nothing compared to how Lanie's personality has grown. She has always seemed to know our voices, but now she is fascinated by our faces. She will sit alertly and stare at us for what seems like hours, but is really only moments. She is also quite fascinated by her "fishie" mobile above her swing. Putting her in her swing is a surefire way for me to get a few moments to eat, shower, or perhaps clean up a little. It only lasts 10-15 minutes, but its amazing how much I can now get done in that time! Lanie is a happy baby who smiles often, but not really in response to anything. I cannot wait for the first time she actually smiles back at us. Lanie's favorite time of the day is bath time. She absolutely loves it! She stretches and turns trying to get every little bit of her body in the water. I think she would stay in there all day if I let her.
I'm sure the next month will bring as many changes as this month. This is both an exciting and scary thought. I can't wait to see every new thing she does, but I do not want the time to go by too fast...

Doing Great!
Lanie's had a very busy week, starting last weekend with her first birthday party. Her cousin Brooklin turned 5, and Lanie was as content as could be at the party. On Monday she finally lost her umbilical cord, which was exciting, but for some reason also a little sad...
Uncle Rich came to visit this week. He was able to spend several days visiting and spending time with Lanie. While he was here, Lanie went to grannie and papa's for the first time for dinner. She seems to like white noise, because anytime there are alot of people around she falls right to sleep and stays that way until we leave.
Lanie ended her week with a barbeque at the Bison Range. This was her second visit to the Bison Range (The first with her mom and grandmas)and once again she slept almost the entire time.

Our Beautiful Daughter
The last 12 days have been absolutely incredible. I hardly know where to begin other than to say David and I have the most amazing little girl ever. I'm sure all new parents say that, but it's true.
It all started last Monday when we went in to be induced. Things didn't go as well as planned and after almost 24 hours of trying we decided on a cesarean. The surgery was unbelievably quick and in no time our little Elaina was born. We had a short stay in the hospital to make sure everything was going well and were able to come home last Friday.
Since then things have been a whirlwind of feedings, diaper changes, and utter amazement. I look at Lanie everyday and cannot believe she is really ours. She is the most beautiful thing I have ever seen. Her dad is also absolutely in love with her. He can't take his eyes of her and can barely leave her to go to work every day. We feel like the luckiest people alive and cannot wait for all of you to meet Elaina.

Baby Imminent!
Hey guys-- Sara asked me to post the news as their computer is down. She is off from work now, and at home getting ready for a new baby. They went to the doctor Monday and heard good news! The baby looks good and everything seems to be progressing normally. The due date is anywhere from the 10th to the 15th. If there is no baby by then, the doctor said he will induce labor on the 16th. Sara said she is feeling good and excited to have the baby! --Erin

Can't Wait!
I have to confess the picture I just posted is from when my dad came to visit in February. I am much bigger now!
Time really seems to have slowed down...I cannot wait for the next 4 weeks to go by! Truth be told though, I am not ready. We need to put carpet in the nursery and do the finishing touches, but I just want to see our little one.
The school had a very nice shower for me last Thursday. I'll have to post pictures of the shower so you all can see what I really look like! Everyone was very generous and we have many beautiful outfits and blankets for the baby. We also received many practical gifts, including my favorite, "the diaper genie". Now all I need to buy is a good supply diapers and we'll have what we need.

The Countdown Begins!
I can't believe how quickly time has gone by. We have less than 5 weeks to go before our expected day. It seems the first 7 1/2 months flew by and now time has slowed way down.... I can't wait until May 10th. I am so excited to meet this little one who is constantly dancing and perfoming somersaults in my stomach!
We went to the doctor yesterday and everything is right on track. Dr McCoy said for the hundreth time that I'm having a textbook pregnancy. In fact the only problem I've had lately was a 24 hour flu bug. Let's hope the delivery goes as smoothly!

Shy Baby!
Thursday was our big day! We finally went in for the ultrasound that we missed last month. While sitting in the waiting room, we were excited to see ultrasound pictures another mom had. They were as clear as day and the images made us even more excited to see our own little one. .
Unfortunately the baby chose this day to be shy! It had its hand in front of its face the whole time, so we couldn't get any good shots. The technology is amazing, but it can only get you so far when the baby is playing peek a boo! Despite not being able to see its face, the ultrasound is still an amazing experience.. We cannot wait to see our little guy/girl and were happy to have the doctor move the due date back to May 10th.

OOPS!
As many of you know, David and I were going in on Friday for our next ultrasound. We were very excited and had been looking forward to it all week. I'm not quite sure why....but we were running late for our appointment and got there too late for the dr. to fit us in. We really had no excuse for being late, just chalk this one up to the decrease in brain cells caused by pregnancy!
Needless to say we were both disappointed, me especially, but we are scheduled to go back in for an ultrasound after David gets back from working in Phoenix. Trust me, there is no way I'm going to let us miss this one!
